THREE BEAR RESTAURANT

Three Bear Lodge & Restaurant is one of the most well known businesses in West Yellowstone, Montana. Since the early 1930’s, Three Bear has grown to accommodate both the locals and the visitors to Yellowstone National Park. As a seasonal business, the restaurant is closed for 3 months, during which time a relaxed working environment would include cleaning and other projects, future planning and recruitment, and a time when vacations can be taken.

West Yellowstone has a resident population of about 1,200 people with a medical clinic, public school and library. West Yellowstone has long winters with lots of snow. While most things are available in town, the larger shopping areas are Bozeman – 90 miles, Rexburg – 84 miles and Idaho Falls – 110 miles. The roads are well maintained for winter driving. Situated at the West Gate of Yellowstone, the area is an outdoor enthusiasts dream! Recreate when not working by fly-fishing, hiking and camping, snowmobiling, skiing and a long list of other activities.

Salary is above average and DOE.

Benefits include insurance, retirement plan, paid vacation, and employee meal plan. Privileges are available on the company owned snowmobile rentals, snowcoach and summer van tours, movie tickets and hotel rooms.  

Three Bear Restaurant can seat 150 people, is well maintained with an elegant rustic log décor. The kitchen includes a 3 person line including broiler, grill and deep fry stations. As a seasonal restaurant, summer is our high volume season (May – Oct). We also have a solid winter season (Dec 15 – March 15). We are closed for about 3 months of the year. Management positions are year round.

Executive Chef/Restaurant Manager

The Executive Chef/Restaurant Manager is responsible for:

  • Overall management of a busy seasonal restaurant serving breakfast and dinner
  • Hiring, mentoring and training staff at all levels
  • Strong management experience and a pleasant and outgoing personality
  • Experience in food preparation, supervising and cooking in all line and prep positions
  • Effectively working with and directing other employees while under pressure
  • Ensure excellent customer service
  • Maintain food and kitchen safety and sanitation
  • Must have the patience and personality to work with and oversee employees from different backgrounds and levels of experience
  • Ordering product and scheduling employees to maintain established food and labor percentages
  • Daily tracking and preparing monthly reports for presentation to owners of all food, labor and supply costs
  • Having experience with menu design and pricing, inventory and cost controls
  • Adding a flair and new tastes to our traditional menu for which we have become famous
  • Directing, supporting and working closely with the Front End Manager
  • Providing a pleasant atmosphere for employees and customers
  • Working with the management of the lodge and correlating between the restaurant, lodge, and lounge

Front End Manager/Assistant Restaurant Manager

The Front End Manager/Assistant Restaurant Manager is responsible for:

  • Front End Management of a busy seasonal restaurant serving breakfast and dinner
  • Hiring, mentoring and training front end staff
  • Training and supervising the handling of all food and beverage service
  • Effectively working with and directing other employees while under pressure
  • Ensure excellent customer service
  • Help maintaining food and kitchen safety and sanitation
  • Must have the patience and personality to work with and oversee employees from different backgrounds and levels of experience
  • Scheduling employees to maintain established front end labor percentages
  • Working closely with and supporting the Executive Chef/Restaurant Manager
  • Providing a pleasant atmosphere for employees and customers
  • Maintaining a fair and equitable working relationship with employees
  • Working with and correlating between the restaurant, lodge, and lounge

We are looking for a high caliber individual with strong personality and honest character to help lead our restaurant. The ability to motivate and develop staff through example and respective training is a must!

Day / Night Servers Experience required

THREE BEAR LODGE

Housekeeper / Laundry

  • Follows detailed worksheet for each room cleaning
  • Daily maintenance of jacuzzi tubs.
  • Clean building floors and walls by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
  • Change bedding and make beds as directed.
  • Put dirty bedding and linens in laundry bags. Take bags to laundry. These can be carted or carried to laundry.
  • Stock room food supplies (coffee, tea, sugar, etc.) as needed.
  • Replenish supplies such as linens, writing supplies, and bathroom items.
  • Gather and empty trash.
  • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
  • Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
  • Move and arrange furniture, and turn mattresses.
  • Make adjustments and to heating, cooling and ventilating systems.
  • Mix water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
  • Steam-clean or shampoo carpets. Polish floors.
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
  • Notify supervisor concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  • Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, and ladders to prepare conference rooms for events such as banquets and meetings.
  • Remove debris from driveways and all public areas inside or out.
  • Replace light bulbs.
  • Sort all linens, towels, shower curtains, and other articles, load and run washing machines per directions.
  • Dry or hang linens per instructions. Sort and fold clean, dry linens and towels.
  • Sort, count, and mark clean linens, and store them in linen closets.
  • Deliver any items requested by guests to rooms.
  • Observe precautions required to protect resort and guest property, and report damage, theft, and found articles to supervisors.
  • Carry linens, towels, toilet items, and cleaning supplies, using wheeled carts or by hand as needed.

Prefer a minimum of 6 months of housekeeping experience.   Able to train willing applicants. Must be able to communicate clearly with managers and other personnel. Must be proficient in English. Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.   Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours). Be able to climb and descend one flight of stairs frequently, often while carrying supplies, linens, and garbage.
